Two huge sporting events coming up here in Da Springs. First is the second oldest road race in the US. the Pikes Peak International Hill climb aka ‘The race to the clouds’ on 19 July. The big news yesterday here was about a pregnant lady who was out on a walk and happened upon a bear. She got frightened and ran. The bear ran after her. She got to a road and started to cross when a car hit her. Guess she is okay. DOW officials found the bear and after two tranquilizer shots caught it and put it down.

Apparently there were two other bears nearby that escaped.

As bears look for food this time of year, they become slightly more aggressive. Campers, fishermen, and hikers should always carry bear spray when in the mountains. Bear Spray should always be handy when in the backcountry and maybe in bear neighborhoods.
