DIY Home Security
Millions if not billions are spent every year on home security not just in the U.S. but all over the world. Everything from armed guards, gated communities, security companies with or without monitoring, home security devices, surveillance equipment, and guard dogs: omigosh the list goes on and on.
All of this of course is designed to keep what is yours YOURS and not fenced down the street by some low life drug addict who is too lazy to work.
If you have the money to spend then go for it.
There is however plenty you can do by yourself to keep the bad guys away from your home and let them pick someone else-a Do It Yourself prescription for home security.
How bad is it?
–A property crime occurs every 3 seconds.
–A home burglary happens every 15 seconds.
–90% of all burglaries can be prevented according to police.
–Almost 33% of burglaries are by unlawful entry thru an unlocked door or window.
Make it as difficult as possible to gain access to your house. Use your head to save your house. Common sense prevails here.
1. Start with the outside. Remove all shrubs etc that might provide hiding places. Put up some dummy surveillance cameras that are cheap and look just like the real thing. Get some home security company stickers that give the appearance of a security company system. NRA stickers work great too as do “Guard Dog” signs.
2. Then lock all your doors and windows even when you are home. Officials tell us that most burglaries occur thru unlocked doors and windows.
3. Get some simple home security devices like door and window alarms. They are easy to use and inexpensive. Make sure your front door has a peephole and use it.
4. Lastly, get some Self Defense Products like pepper sprays and stun guns to have around the house just in case of a home invasion. Who knows it may save your life.
Taking these steps may save you the grief and anguish of a home burglary and is well worth the effort.
